Message from the Director
The mission of the Division of Waste Management (DWM) is to protect human health and the environment by minimizing adverse impacts on all citizens of the Commonwealth through the development and implementation of fair, equitable and effective waste management programs via program planning and administration and regional field operations efforts. Each year we are challenged to achieve this mission by leading and assisting the citizens of Kentucky in the minimalization of waste generation and land disposals of wastes via recycling and local assistance to provide direction for the beneficial reuse of materials that might otherwise be disposed; along with continuing the closure and remediation of historic solid waste landfills, superfund sites, hazardous waste sites and underground storage tank facilities; and by conducting timely review of permit applications for solid waste and hazardous waste facilities. As a service to you, information on our division’s programs as well as links to other environmental sites of interest can be found on our Web site. We hope you take advantage of this resource.
Respectfully,Anthony R. Hatton, Director
